Nepal’s global appeal isn’t just the draw to Mount Everest. It’s a unique blend of natural wonder, deep culture, and ancient nature that draws travelers from across the world.
Himalayan landscapes: Home to the world’s tallest peaks, including Mount Everest and the Annapurna range, Nepal offers scenery found nowhere else on Earth.
Cultural depth and diversity: From ancient temples and UNESCO World Heritage sites to vibrant local festivals and spiritual traditions rooted in Hinduism and Buddhism, the culture is immersive and timeless.
Adventure and nature: Trekking, wildlife experiences, rafting, jungle safaris, and other outdoor pursuits make Nepal a magnet for active travelers who love being out in the open.
Warm hospitality: Visitors consistently highlight Nepalese friendliness, authenticity, and sense of welcome — making even challenging experiences feel supported and meaningful.
Experience-based travel is increasingly part of why people choose Nepal: it’s not just seeing the world’s tallest mountains, it’s becoming a part of them through the trail, culture, and community.

This Breakaway is designed for all yoga levels, including beginners. Daily yoga and meditation are supportive rather than strenuous, helping with recovery, mobility, and grounding throughout the journey.
For the trekking portion, the Mardi Himal Trek is rated Moderate.
You should feel comfortable walking 6–8 miles in a day at a steady, conversational pace, including some hills or stairs, while carrying a light daypack.
Most trekking days involve:
4–7 hours of walking (between about 3 and 7 miles per day)
A slow, consistent pace (this is not fast hiking)
Frequent breaks for rest, photos, and hydration
Steep sections at times, balanced with gradual ascents and descents
You do not need technical climbing experience. The biggest challenge is altitude, not speed or athleticism—and the itinerary is intentionally paced to support acclimatization. You’ll also be fully supported by experienced guides and porter service, so you’re only carrying what you need for the day.
If you currently enjoy long walks, hiking, yoga, or other regular movement—and are willing to train a bit beforehand—you’re building a solid base for this trip.

Yes—we strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking.
Since all retreat payments are non-refundable, travel insurance helps protect you before your trip (if unexpected circumstances prevent you from attending) and during your journey (for things like personal injury or illness, trip interruption, lost baggage, or damaged belongings).
If you don’t already have a trusted insurance provider, your credit card company may provide travel insurance options, or you could go with an established company like IMG Global or Travelex

You’ll handle a few personal decisions—like flights, what gear you already own, and how you like to travel—then we’ll help you dial in the trip details so you feel confident (not overwhelmed).
In general, guests should plan for:
International flights to Nepal

Trekking-ready clothing and footwear, suitable for changing mountain conditions
A few required travel items (passport validity, visa on arrival, personal medications)
The free planning guide includes:
A detailed packing list (what’s essential vs. optional — and what should definitely stay at home)
Travel logistics, including arrival and airport transfers
Gear guidance specific to the Mardi Himal Trek

Absolutely—many guests come solo, and choosing a shared (twin) room is a great option if you’d like to save on cost
if you don’t have someone in mind yet (or plans change), this is one of those moments where a little openness can add to the adventure—sometimes the right roommate becomes a friend you didn’t know you needed.
A few important details:
Shared rooms require two confirmed guests to hold the twin-share rate.
If a roommate can’t be confirmed (or a roommate falls through) by the final booking deadline, the reservation will be adjusted to the single-room rate.
If having a private room is important to you, we recommend booking a single room from the start for peace of mind.
-
Shared (twin) rooms are priced for two confirmed guests. If you book a shared room but a roommate can’t be confirmed by the final booking deadline, your reservation will be adjusted to the single-room rate.
If you’re open to sharing and don’t have someone in mind, let the Thrive team know—we’re happy to help facilitate a match when possible. Many guests find that being flexible and open-minded adds an unexpected layer of connection to the experience.
If having a private room is important to you, booking a single room from the start is the best way to guarantee your preference.
